Goals
Mr. Perri's goal as P.S.254's Physical Education teacher is for his students to acquire the skills they
need to be healthy in mind and body. This is accomplished by utilizing the NYCDOE mandated health- related fitness education curriculum know as Physical Best in conjunction with supplementary lessons from reputable sources.
Safety
Safety is of the highest priority in Mr. Perri's Physical Education class. This includes but is not limited to following the rules and wearing sneakers. The rule for the latter is simple, "No sneakers, no participation." Mr. Perri understands that in certain cases such as when the weather is inclement, students may wear boots or other footwear not suitable for participation in a Physical Education class. It is advised that in these cases, students bring a pair of sneakers to change into, so that he/ she may participate (non- participation may negatively impact the student's grade). Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.
Rules
Mr. Perri believes in keeping the rules simple so that there are no misunderstandings and all students may participate in a safe and non- threatening environment. The rules are discussed in detail during the first day of class and are revisited often throughout the year. Mr. Perri's rules for his Physical Education classes (posted in two locations in the gym) are:
- Be safe
- Be kind
- Be active
